Detroit Heralds

In 1905, several University of Detroit football players organized the Heralds as an amateur team after the University didn't field a squad that year. When the University team resumed play in 1906, the Heralds continued as an amateur team until 1911, after which they went semi-pro and left the campus.  Despite not being based in Ohio, the Heralds played most of their games against teams in the Ohio League.  Many of the Heralds' victories were against future NFL teams, and they are listed in the 1920 APFA  League standings with a 2-3-3 record.
